Where to go this season
In summer Devon’s butterflies, moths and dragonflies get the season moving. Here are some of the best places to get a closer look...
Unlock the secrets of one of North Devon’s most beautiful hidden valleys at Marsland nature reserve. A butterfly haven (near Bude)
Use Devon’s newest cycle way to explore the butterfly and moth-rich grassy meadows of Teigngrace Meadow nature reserve (near Bovey Tracey)
Hike through heathland to spot night flying moths and the nightjars that hunt for them at Chudleigh Knighton nature reserve (near Chudleigh)
Go on a dragonfly and damselfly safari at Meeth Quarry nature reserve (near Hatherleigh). This reserve is great for butterflies too!
Sit for a while on one of the benches at our Little Bradley Ponds (near Bovey Tracey) and Bystock Pools nature reserves (near Exmouth)
Other wild places to go this summer
Visit the one of our Culm grassland nature reserves as they burst into colour provided by hundreds of wildflowers. Dunsdon and Vealand Farm (both near Holsworthy) nature reserves are great places to start.
