In spring Devon’s wildflowers light up our lives
Here are some of the best places to put a little colour back in your cheeks!
Places to go
Walk through wild daffodils at Dunsford nature reserve (near Exeter)
See fields of bluebells at Emsworthy Mire nature reserve (Dartmoor)
Walk in wildflower woodlands at Halsdon (near Dolton), Warleigh Point (Plymouth) and Scanniclift Copse (near Exeter) nature reserves.
Cycle past wildflower hedges at Meeth Quarry (near Hatherleigh) and Halwill Junction (near Okehampton) nature reserves.
Drop in on our Cricklepit Mill garden (Exeter) to see an urban garden in full of colour (open from 10am-4pm on weekdays during office hours, excluding bank holidays).
Other wild things to see this spring
Search for sunbathing lizards and adders at Bovey Heathfield and Chudleigh Knighton Heath nature reserves (both near Bovey Tracey)
Listen for the arrival of summer migrants including reed warblers and chiff-chaffs at South Efford Marsh (near Plymouth), Swanpool Marsh (near Braunton) and Old Sludge Beds (near Exeter) nature reserves.
