The opportunities...
Our team at Seaton Jurassic is looking for volunteers for various different roles to help with the running of the visitor centre. Roles include supporting with education work, reception, craft activities, events and gardening.

Opportunity | Purpose | Skills |
---|---|---|
Reception and retail volunteers | To help run the reception desk, selling tickets & retail items and helping out with the tourist information centre | Customer service experience, ideally some form of previous till experience/cash handling, but full training will be given. |
Gardening volunteers | To help in the Seaton Jurassic garden, weeding, maintaining appearance at the front, working with the other gardeners to ensure the garden is a pleasant place for visitors and wildlife. | No experience needed, all training will be provided. |
Time travellers assistants (room attendants) | To answer questions within the exhibition, to encourage visitors to interact with the exhibition, to explain the links between each area. | Customer service, ideally some geology or marine, but training is offered |
Events and craft volunteers | To help out as event support, to do some craft activities when needed, and to make sure visitors have an enjoyable time during their visit | Customer service experience, ideally experience doing crafts but training will be given, previous experience with children an advantage |
Education volunteers | To assist the education officer with school groups and events; including walks through the centre, games in the garden, craft activities, rockpool rambles, education activities, etc. | Ideally have experience with schools/children, enthusiastic around kids. Geology, marine & exhibition training given ‘on the job’. |
Character volunteer | To wear a costume and welcome people to the exhibition, acting as ‘Bindon the housekeeper/butler’ and explaining the ideas of the exhibition. | Costumes and training provided. |
