East Dartmoor Landscape Recovery Area Survey Volunteer (Butterfly)

East Dartmoor Landscape Recovery Area Survey Volunteer (Butterfly)

Location:
East Dartmoor, Various locations in East Dartmoor Landscape Recovery Area. Training will take place at Yarner Wood.
A brilliant opportunity to help survey for beautiful butterflies in East Dartmoor.

We want to restore and support wildlife and habitats within the East Dartmoor Area.

We are conducting a range of timed count surveys for Small Pearl-Bordered and Pearl Bordered Fritillary Butterflies, which enable local people to be involved and engaged while providing real data to allow us to monitor the success of our landscape recovery area in restoring natural processes. This role will both provide baseline data, and pave the way for future more widespread voluntary wildlife monitoring.

The training for this role will be provided in partnership with the Butterfly Conservation Trust. The training will be on the 28th April, 10am - 3pm, at Yarner Wood. More information will be provided upon applying. If you are unable to attend this date, please still apply, but make us aware that this is the case.

Each volunteer will be given a site to survey between April and June (specific timings will be discussed), during which we would like the site to be surveyed at least once. Surveys can take potentially 2-3 hours.
