County Wildlife Site Project Volunteer (Office)
Devon Wildlife Trust is working to ensure that more high-quality habitat is identified, designated & protected in the wider landscape. This will lead to nature recovery across Devon.
County Wildlife Sites (CWS) are the best quality habitat we have that is not legally protected. Devon has over 2,000 such sites on record, but the real number is probably more than double that. It is critical that more of these undesignated sites are recognised for the value they hold.
In this role you will use digital mapping to research the current land use and ownership of unconfirmed CWS, helping to prioritise those which will be surveyed next year. Later in 2025 you will work alongside surveyors to ensure quality reports. Depending on skills/experience, there may be other opportunities to further this important work, for example, helping with communications/social media activities to raise awareness of CWS across Devon.
