NEW: Saving Devon’s Treescapes Award

NEW: Saving Devon’s Treescapes Award

The Saving Devon’s Treescapes (SDT) team is pleased to announce the SDT Award!

We are continually impressed with the amount of great work that goes on within communities to make local treescapes within Devon more resilient for the future.  The Saving Devon’s Treescapes Award has been established to recognise these efforts by local groups, parishes and organisations.

Applications for the Saving Devon’s Treescapes Award are welcomed from any group* which has completed at least 2 SDT activities (see following list) and has a third planned.  The activities can be any of the following:-

  • Planted a landmark tree.
  • Created a community orchard.
  • Held a tree hub.
  • Started a micro-nursery.
  • Tagged hedgerow trees.
  • Held a group citizen science event and recorded to the SDT recording platform (lichens, brown hairstreak butterfly, notable trees).
  • Set up a fixed-point photography kit.
  • Held a community tree planting (a hedge, copse, small woodland).
  • Held an event/talk to raise awareness about Ash dieback.
  • Submitted to the ash archive.
  • Another treescapes-themed activity that you think is worthy of consideration.

Applications can be submitted any time; there is no deadline.  The SDT team will review and respond to applications periodically (at least once a month).

There is a choice of award, up to a value of £50.  The choice includes Garden Centre Vouchers, tree planting spades, a sustainable trophy, or your own choice of item (in keeping with the treescapes theme).

Applications can be made here.

Just one application per group please.

For any queries, please contact the team on savedevonstrees@devnwildlifetrust.org.

We look forward to receiving your applications!

*Except schools for which there is a separate SDT scheme
