Peter Eeles

This is a great opportunity to hone your surveying skills whilst helping us monitor how this species fares throughout ash dieback.

About the role

As part of the Saving Devon’s Treescapes Project, we are searching for and recording Brown Hairstreak Butterfly eggs to monitor how this species (reliant on ash trees) fares as ash dieback reduces the habitat for adult butterflies. The data collected will be shared with DBRC and Butterfly Conservation.

What skills do you need?

  • Attention to detail – the eggs are found on blackthorn and are tiny.

  • Basic IT skills to input data using our web-based recording app Treescapes (devontreescapes.com).

  • A risk assessment and survey instructions will be provided.

Location

Devon-wide publicly accessible land.
