Our Values

Everyone counts

We are a values-driven organisation that strives to do our work to high ethical standards. We hold Investors in Volunteers, Investors in People and ISO14001 Environmental Management certification. We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator and fundraise and invest to ethical standards. To better live our values, we will become carbon negative by 2030 through implementing an ambitious carbon reduction plan and have a clear strategic goal to properly embed equality, diversity and inclusion at all levels of our organisation.

The values we work to...

Everyone counts
  • Giving everyone a chance to discover and enjoy Devon's wildlife, wherever they live, whatever they believe and whatever barriers might exist
An atmosphere of trust
  • Creating a working environment where people feel their views and ideas count and where they are willing to take responsibility for leading
Going the extra mile
  • Staying the course and delivering above and beyond what our stakeholders would expect
Passion with reason
  • Pursuing our work with drive and zeal, but making sure our arguments are reasoned and based on sound evidence
Considerate partners
  • Being aware of the needs and concerns of those we work with, recognising mutual strengths and sharing credit
Inspiring minds
  • Developing, experimenting and broadening our work, sowing enthusiasm with abandon and bringing everyone under wildlife's spell

Reducing our environmental impact

Every business or organisation has an impact on the environment whether that is through the waste it produces, the energy it consumes or the emissions from its operations. What counts is what can be done about it.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We believe that nature is for everyone and that everyone has a role to play in its recovery. We know that our society is wrestling with entrenched inequalities; sexism, racism, homophobia and transphobia continue to blight the lives of many and the gap between the poorest and the wealthiest continues to grow. Many communities – and often those that are most marginalised and/or disadvantaged – do not have equal access to nature and the benefits it brings. The conservation sector lacks racial and economic diversity. We have much more work to do.
