Devon Wildlife Trust is staging a series of Wild Wednesdays at Exeter’s Mincinglake Valley Park. Devon Wildlife Trust manages the city’s six Valley Parks on behalf of Exeter City Council.
The free nature themed activities will take place each Wednesday throughout August (7th, 14th, 21st and 28th August). Each event takes place between 10.30am and 12.30pm. Families are welcome to drop in anytime and there is no need to book.
Each week will give children and adults a chance to discover and explore the rich range of wildlife which lives on their doorsteps.
Emily Bacon is Devon Wildlife Trust’s Wild Learning Officer. Emily said:
“There are different family fun activities at each event, from bug hunting to bird watching, as well as opportunities to get crafty with some nature inspired art. The activities will be aimed at all ages, so bring the whole family along and enjoy time together outdoors.
Being outdoors and connecting to nature is great for our wellbeing and we hope these activities will help inspire families to continue their own nature explorations over the summer.”
The events will take place near the Stoke Hill Road car park of Mincinglake Valley Park. Visitors are encouraged to walk or cycle on the day, though limited car parking may be available. Anyone attending who is under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
This summer school holiday also sees Devon Wildlife Trust team up with Double Elephant Print Makers to run art workshops in Exeter’s Valley Parks. These family-focused events are supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
‘Plants, Pollinators and Papermakers’ events will take on Saturday 3 August and on Wednesday 7 August at Northbrook Park (formerly Northbrook Approach pitch and putt golf course), Topsham Road, Exeter; and on Saturday 17 and Tuesday 20 August at Riverside Valley Park.
The workshops are free to attend, require no previous experience and do not require booking. For more details including the times of the workshops go to the ‘What’s on’ page.
