Where will your next wild walk take you?

Experience the wild Atlantic coast or a quarry reclaimed by nature

Explore estuaries, or the tors of Dartmoor

Each of our Wild Walks takes in a DWT nature reserve and the countryside around it.

DWT’s Wild Walks are suitable for a range of abilities. Walks range in length from 4 to 8 miles, using footpaths, bridleways and minor roads.

Dunsdon wild walk

Starts: 3 miles north of Holsworthy

Length: 4 miles

Starts: 2 miles east of Bovey Tracey

Length: 4.5 miles

River Exe wild walk

Starts: Exeter Quay

Length: 6 miles

Highlights:

Path through DWT Old Sludge Beds nature reserve

Dunsford wild walk

A Dartmoor classic

This Wild Walk includes one of Devon's most beautiful woodlands, riverbank footpaths along the Teign Valley and open moorland with panoramic views.

Approx time: 3.5 hours

Approx distance: 7.5 miles

Start: Steps Bridge car park, near DWT Dunsford nature reserve.

Halsdon wild walk

A Torridge and Tarka Trail trek

This Wild Walk includes one of DWT's most popular nature reserves, walking through Halsdon's oak woodland and along the River Torridge. The walk also takes in Beaford Wood, the landscaped parkland of the Heanton Satchville estate, a section of the Tarka Trail and two crossings over the Torridge.

Approx time: 4.5 hours

Approx distance: 8 miles

Start: Ashwell car park, DWT Halsdon nature reserve.

South Efford Marsh wild walk

Birds of the Avon Valley

DWT South Efford Marsh is one of the South Hams' premier birdwatching sites. This Wild Walk takes in the nature reserve and its bird hide, then four miles of the Avon valley's fine views, woodlands, undulating bridleways and meandering streams.

Approx time: 3.5 hours (including time spent wildlife-watching on the reserve)

Approx distance: 4 miles

Start: Timbers car park, next to A379 roundabout at Aveton Gifford
