About the event

We hope to plant 1200 whip trees, with tree species including oak, hawthorn and grey willow, to support the natural flood management project.

You will have the opportunity to learn about and see some of the different flood management interventions already installed by the project.

Tree planting will take place across 3 days. Volunteers are welcome to attend just one day, or all three days. Please make sure to register on Eventbrite for each day you would like to attend.

This work is funded by the Environment Agency through the Devon Resilience Innovation Project.

Mobility

We will be planting the trees on an in-use farm, with a reasonable amount of walking required. Please expect uneven terrain and potentially a lot of mud. Unfortunately, this terrain is not suitable for wheelchairs.

We will need to carry some of the trees and equipment across the fields from where they’re being stored to their planting location. Some of this will be slightly uphill.

There is no access to toilets.

Please bring any food and drink you will need for the day.

This is a fully outdoor event. Please make sure to wear warm clothes along with a waterproof coat and trousers. If the weather is cold, please bring a woolly hat and gloves. Wellies (preferable) or walking boots will be needed.
