Join CAG Devon for SkillShare24 on 9 November at The Mint, Exeter. This event focuses on environmental action, inspiration, and building resilience through community connections.
This year’s theme, “Resilience Through Connecting,” highlights the power of collaboration. Enjoy practical workshops, creative activities, and discussions on local climate initiatives. Network, share ideas, and make meaningful connections while enjoying good food and planning community action!
Pine martens, beavers, and humans: how we all make the world a better place
Tuesday 12 November at 7pm in Chardstock Community Hall, EX13 7BJ.
Devon Wildlife Trust’s Conservation Manager, Ed Parr Ferris, will join Chardstock Eco Group to discuss the recent reintroduction of 15 pine martens to Dartmoor, following two years of community consultation. He will also talk about beavers dispersing from the River Otter into East Devon’s rivers and streams.
The talk is free to attend, but donations are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
Connect Café

Join the Bat Conservation Trust for another Connect Café chat - a free, friendly online space where you can learn about Devon’s wildlife and habitats, get practical tips to help biodiversity, discover monitoring and surveying techniques, and connect with people and organizations caring for local landscapes.
November’s café session will focus on the power of citizens in protecting our wildlife and landscapes. We’ll discuss citizen science and how everyone can contribute to conservation by observing the world around us. Topics will include getting started, choosing the right projects, the benefits of participation, and how collected data is used.
Winter Wildlife Survey at Gappah Farm

Explore Gappah Farm, near Chudleigh, and help with a Winter Wildlife Survey. Try out wildlife recording apps, improve your identification skills, and enjoy a walk on one of the project’s amazing farms. Refreshments will be provided.

Join Common Flora for monthly sessions to look at and learn about nature in fields with beautiful views in south Devon.
Looking and listening, gently walking, sitting or lying near the field edges we soak up the atmosphere and breathe the fresh air while we learn about nature and how to care for it. No regular commitment required, sessions happen about once per month. Each site has toilet facilities. Spare outdoor clothes. Delicious food and lots of laughs for free!

Skills Bootcamp in Regenerative Land-based Systems
Free for participants, made possible by Devon County Council, Skills Bootcamps and Train 4 Tomorrow, and certified by Crossfields Institute, the Apricot Centre @Huxhams Cross Farm and Landworkers Alliance present the Level 2 Skills Bootcamp in Regenerative Land-Based Systems to introduce people to the world of regenerative farming and help them gain skills for furthering their work and becoming part of the future of farming. Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee.
12 sessions will take place on Wednesdays, 9am- 4pm. Dates are specified for each cohort upon application and confirmed once you are accepted on a course. You must attend 80% of the course to complete.
Applications are continuously open for 2024 cohorts.
Devon Hedge Award - Open for entries
Devon Hedge Award is now open for applications from farmers and others who carry out “healthy hedge trimming”. The Award is about saying thank you to people who are working hard to create wildlife-rich hedges within Devon’s countryside. Applicants will receive a personal certificate as well as an award plaque, that can be proudly displayed on a gate or building. Farmers, landowners, schools and community groups, who are sympathetically managing their Devon hedges, can apply for the award.
