What is Nextdoor Nature?

Nextdoor Nature is supporting community-led projects that will help to create a greener and wilder Exeter.

If you want to start a local project that brings back nature on your doorstep and which involves others in your community, we can help you get your ideas off the ground.

Greener Neighbourhoods in Exeter

If you live in Priory, St David, Exwick, Newtown, Whipton & Barton or Mincinglake and want to get a project to help nature off the ground, Nextdoor Nature is here to help.

You don’t have to be an expert to do something good for nature where you live. There are lots of projects, big or small, that can make a real difference. You could plant a mini meadow in your local park, help hedgehogs on your street, or get people involved with their greenspace through art or food growing projects.

…it’s up to you! Whether you want ideas to help you get started or have an idea you want to get off the ground, we are here to support you.

Big Spring Sow is back!

Last year, communities across Exeter sowed wildflower seeds in their local patch with the help of Nextdoor Nature Officer Emily. DWT's Big Spring Sow is back and this year we will be setting up hubs for people to collect seed for their area. See hub details below.

Friday 2 February, 2-4pm at Cricklepit Mill

Friday 16 February, 10am-1pm at Cricklepit Mill

Sunday 18 February 10.30am-2.30pm at Exeter Seed Banks

Nextdoor Nature is bringing communities together to help nature flourish where they live and work! Thanks to £5million funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Nextdoor Nature will provide people with the advice and support they need to help nature on their doorstep, and leave a lasting natural legacy to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It is also part of DWT’s Wilder Communities Programme.

We need nature, and it needs us...

Listen to George The Poet's wonderful poem for Nextdoor Nature, about how essential it is for people to celebrate nature in their local area.

We can achieve incredible things when we work together!
