Wildlife Skills Traineeship

Salary: This is not a salaried position, but a bursary of £750 per month is provided.

Location: Meeth Quarry Nature Reserve, Nr Hatherleigh, Devon

Devon Wildlife Trust has one Practical Conservation training placement available from 1st July 2017 to a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in wildlife and conservation.

It is a three month placement, based at Meeth Quarry nature reserve but also working at other reserves mainly in the north of the county.

Supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund, this programme seeks to meet skills gaps in the conservation sector and to diversity the conservation workforce by providing opportunities for individuals with an aspiration to pursue a future career in a practical conservation role such as a Warden/Ranger position.

This role is particularly suited to young people and those in transitional phases of their lives and careers who already have some knowledge/experience.

No formal educational qualification or training is required but applicants must be able to demonstrate their potential and desire to learn new skills, work as part of a team and the personal commitment to complete the training programme.

Note that this is a short 3 month training opportunity and there is no salaried position offered on completion of the programme. Accommodation is not offered.

A bursary of £750 per month will be paid to trainees, with a further completion payment also payable.
