Active Neighbourhoods Traineeship: Trainee Urban Ranger

Salary: Unsalaried position, but a bursary of £750 per month will be paid to the trainee, with a further completion payment also payable.

Devon Wildlife Trust has a training placement available from 2nd January 2018 for a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in practical conservation and community engagement.

The Active Neighbourhoods Traineeship is ideal for someone who is looking for a career in nature conservation. It provides the skills and experience that are essential for future employment within this highly competitive sector.

The vacancy is based in Plymouth, within the Plymouth City Council Natural Infrastructure Team, and we particularly invite applicants from the Plymouth area. The Trainee will help to deliver the Active Neighbourhoods Project which seeks to work with residents in five areas of the city to improve their green spaces and encourage people to get active in nature.

No formal educational qualification or training is required but applicants must be able to demonstrate their potential and desire to learn new skills, work as part of a team and the personal commitment to complete a 12 month training programme.

This is not a salaried position, but a bursary of £750 per month will be paid to the trainee, with a further completion payment also payable. Note that this is a 12 month training opportunity only and there is no salaried position offered on completion of the programme.

Accommodation is not offered for this post. The trainee will be expected to make their own arrangements for accommodation during the training programme.
